Crazy Love & Haitian Orphans

UPDATE: As it turns out, there are no orphans en route to Indianapolis after all. Our application is on file IF and when they are, but for now, please continue to pray for all the orphans who are still in Haiti. This adoption thing sure is an emotional roller coaster!

I finished reading Crazy Love last night. It was such a simple book, but deeply profound and potentially life changing. You really need to read it...and apply it!!

The message of Francis Chan's book went hand in hand with some other books I read last year like Dangerous Surrender, and others. I continue to be challenged to live a life of absolute surrender to my Lord Jesus Christ. I am challenged to live simply so that others may simply live. And just when I begin to wonder what that looks like practically speaking, I received word that there are Haitian orphans en route to Indianapolis who need host families who are open to adoption.

So after praying with Chris last night, I submitted our application this morning indicating our desire to host and willingness to adopt 2 Haitian orphans between the ages of 4 and 10, preferring at least one boy. It appears that we're not the only couple in the Indianapolis metro area who is willing to follow Jesus in this matter as one of the agencies who is coordinating host families has been inundated with e-mails and phone calls. We may not end up being contacted at all. We are waiting and praying and covet your prayers as well. You can find more information and follow this situation at the Safe Families Haiti blog.

May God's perfect will be done in the lives of these orphans.
May they come to know Jesus through this tragedy.

May God give wisdom and discernment to the volunteers who are matching orphans with host familes.
May He strengthen them and guide them through the logistical issues.

May He give us courage to follow Him wherever He leads.

May His Spirit be at work in His people to draw them into lives of absolute surrender.

Grace and Peace,
Angel

P.S. This post sounds so calm, but in all honesty, I am struggling to focus on anything else at the moment. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but my heart is overflowing for these orphans. Please pray!

We will be praying for wisdom and strength during this time. Any child would be so blessed to be part of your family. I read that book too...so good. I just finished his book, "Forgotten God".

So wonderful, Angel. Keep us posted.

We have been challenged with a similar message over the past few years~ essentially to live simply so that we are able to give generously.

Love to you and yours...

Oh Angel;

May God hold your heart close to His...may it stay tender and willing to be open to the moves of His Spirit.

Oh, how I'd love God to open this door for you.

Oh, Angel, I was just thinking about how a year ago today I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Annemarie, 8 days late by this point. That was an emotional rollercoaster, but at least I knew there was a baby definitely coming! I will pray for you, your family, those precious orphans, and God's perfect will.

You just never know how God will use you in the area of adoption- exciting. I have a family member adopting, and I KNOW it is such a comfort to them that God is in control- there have been some valleys and some unexpected roadblocks in the whole procedure, but what a difference it makes to see things from the perspective of knowing that God will do what is best for all.
