I enjoy the way our church does baptism. We meet at a fitness center which has a small pool. After the service, the congregation gathers together in this small room to watch the baptism.

While the pastor talks and prays with the person who will be baptized, our worship leader plays his guitar and leads the congregation in worship. There is a break in the singing, and our pastor will introduce the person pray aloud, and then pray with him again privately while the congregation sings another song or two. The baptism occurs in the midst of the singing, which is interrupted by a cheer when the believer is raised up out of the water, after which the singing continues.
Often, a child's father will join him in the water, and even conduct the baptism. It's such a worshipful environment! A couple of weeks earlier, two other of our youth were baptized. Tears rolled down my cheeks throughout the entire baptism, and the most precious moment of all was when the 10 year old girl who had just been baptized was standing on the side of the pool, wrapped in her towel, dripping wet, singing, "Holy, Holy, Holy," while another boy prepared to be baptized. Glorious!
Before Ethan's baptism, our wonderful friend Tom went over to talk to him. I so appreciate the godly men that our Heavenly Father has put in our lives who are willing to reach out to our son.

Ed led us in worshiping, singing "Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord" while Pastor Toby and Ethan talked.

While Chris, Ethan, and Toby prayed, we sang "Here I Am to Worship."
Then, Ethan was baptized by his dad.
I wish this photo weren't blurry; it's priceless to me anyway! Maybe if the photographer weren't crying, she could have focused better. ;)
I wish we could have had our entire family present, but I am thankful that my dad, my mom, and my brother were able to join us for the baptism.
God is doing a mighty work in my son, and I rejoice to witness it! I'm overflowing with gratitude for this godly father standing at his side (and mine) as well!
Grace and Peace,Angel

Love this post SOOO much. Awesome to have praise and worship with the baptism. wow...awesome.
This post brought tears to my eyes. (Baptisms usually do, for some reason!) Strangely (or maybe not so strangely), our church did baptisms on Sunday morning, and I found myself thinking how great it would be to see my children get baptized.
Beautiful. Precious. :sniff:
Praise God! :)
